Meet Ruby Neagle, the equestrian enthusiast you need to know! Last fall, Ruby won our Barn Buddies photo contest for this photo of Ruby with her barn buddies.
If you spot Ruby around the barn, chances are she’s hanging out with her young off-the-track Thoroughbred, Rosco, and her adorable dog, Mia. These three are practically glued together—if you see Ruby and Rosco, you can bet Mia is right there, too! Ruby’s days are filled with fun and friendship, spending time with her barn buddies, which include her adorable pony Misty and her wise old Quarter Horse, Whiskey.
Riding has been Ruby’s passion since she was born, taking after her grandmother—a former dressage rider and now coach and mentor.
Ruby is currently ranked Queensland Pony Club’s state champion in jumping equitation and has recently celebrated a significant milestone: her first eventing competition victory with Rosco.Â
The journey from riding an experienced horse to training a green OTTB hasn’t been easy, but Ruby’s patience and hard work have really paid off. The connection she’s built with Rosco is something special, and they’ve made incredible strides this season. Plus, 2025 is already shaping up to be a big year for them.
With dreams set on the 2032 Olympic Games for eventing in Australia, Ruby draws inspiration from her idols: Esme, who has been a guiding light through the ups and downs of equestrian life, and renowned riders like Boyd Martin, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Jessica Springsteen, and Shane Rose. Each of these athletes fuels Ruby’s ambition, pushing her to reach new heights in her riding career.
As Ruby continues to chase her dreams, one thing is certain: wherever she goes, Rosco and Mia will be right by her side, ready for the next adventure.
